Cooking should never be a chore but rather a journey to enjoyment of eating. This doesn’t mean that producing delicious meals for the family should be complicated and time consuming. Try these easy home cooked meals that can be achieved in under 20 minutes:
This is a simple recipe that children and adults alike absolutely love.
You will need:
- 1 Onion
- 2 Ripe Tomatoes
- 250 g Minced Beef
- Worcester Sauce
- Herbs And Spices
- Spaghetti In A Packet
Boil water in the kettle and pour into a large pot that is already heating on the stove. Add a tablespoon of salt and oil and one packet of spaghetti once the water is boiling rapidly. Stir The pasta to make sure it doesn’t stick together. The spaghetti should be ready in 20 minutes when it should be strained and served.
While the spaghetti is cooking, chop onion roughly and place in a pan with some oil on a high heat. Add chopped garlic for extra flavor. Chop tomatoes and add to the onions. When the tomatoes are soft, move them to one side of the pan and add the minced beef to the cleared side. Pour a little boiling water over the minced beef and use a fork to separate the meat into the water. Mix together and add ketchup, Worcester Sauce, herbs and spices to taste.
Leave to simmer on a low heat until the spaghetti is cooked and serve. Substitute Worcester Sauce for Soy Sauce and add other veg like mushrooms, peppers and marrows. Sprinkle Parmesan or grated cheddar cheese over the bolognaise when serving.
Chicken Stir-fry Cheat
This a great weekday meal that is nutritious and simple.
You will need:
- 1 Onion
- 2 Chicken Breasts
- Sliced Cabbage, Carrots and other vegetables of your choice
- Herbs and Spices
Boil the kettle and pour into a large pot on the stove top. Add salt and rice to taste. Stir the rice to loosen it up and allow to boil for 20 minutes or until soft. Strain and rinse when cooked.
While the rice is cooking, chop 1 onion roughly and saute in oil in a pan while chopping up the chicken breasts. Always cut the breast lengthwise for more tenderness. Add the breasts to the onions and stir. Sprinkle some chicken or barbecue spice over the mix.
Remove the chicken and onions from the pan once it turns chicken turns white and is slightly browned. It does not need to be cooked through. Place the chopped, sliced or diced vegetables in the same pan and pour a little boiling water in the bottom. Allow the veg to soften while stirring at intervals but not to loose their crispness. Add the chicken and onions to the veg and serve once the chicken is cooked through.
Add basil or rosemary to the dish when replacing the chicken for added flavor. Not too much as it could overwhelm the delicate flavor of the chicken.
